Originally built by the army as the jail for a fort, now a large ,comfortable, house, with all the amenities, only a short ferry ride from Portland, Me. A private island ,resident-owned and operated, laid out by Olmstead, with 43 houses, 2 docks, deep water moorings,tennis courts, beaches ,a nature preserve,rocky coastline , a winter caretaker, but no cars or shops ,it is an idyllic place. The house and detached "bunk-house" easily sleep 17. A great place for reunions, and ideal for 2 or 3 sibling families to share the costs. Could be heated for year round living for someone with their own boat. View from the deck is fantastic, the kitchen is huge , and the ceilings are 12 ft.. Must be seen to be appreciated.
