Queen Anne Bungalow built in 1903. House is located in Historic Section of Downtown Windsor, NC only minutes from North Carolinas rapidly developing Inner Banks on the Albemarle Sound. Also, only fifteen miles away is an Arnold Palmer signature golf course that is under construction and due to be completed in the summer of 2007. In addition, North Carolinas beautiful Outer Banks are only a one and quarter hour drive away. Home was fully restored in 2000 with historic integrity preserved. The house sits on a 1.29 acre lot on the banks of the Cashie River with a full pier and deck for relaxing and launching boats, canoes, and kayaks. It has all original hardwood floors and all original stonework. There is a full basement for recreation, storage, or workshop, and large wrap around front porch for casual evening sitting. This house has excellent potential for a B&B with an emphasis on history, ecotourism, and fishing. With the seclusion of the upper Cashie River, canoe and kayak tours could be offered to view the pristine cypress and tupelo forests that surround its banks. Abundant and often viewable are wild turkey, whitetail deer, raccoons, wood ducks, mallards, Canadian geese, beaver, various species of swamp birds, and birds of prey including bald eagles, osprey, owls, hawks, and gray heron. Seasonal floating guided fishing trips could also be offered for striped bass, largemouth bass, heron, perch, and brim. Bertie County, of which Windsor is the County Seat and centrally located, has witnessed, practically overnight, unprecedented real estate development investment, especially along its banks on the Chowan River and Albemarle Sound. This area is one of the few undeveloped shorelines left between Maine and Florida. That, however, is rapidly changing. New home buyers, retirees, golfers, hunters, fishermen, contractors, etc. are now traveling to this area and are investing. Bertie County also has thousands of timberland and farmland acreage and is bordered by the Roanoke and Chowan Rivers with the Cashie River flowing through its middle. This combination has created some of the best duck, whitetail deer and wild turkey hunting in the state and eastern seaboard of the United States. Striped Bass fishing is also excellent. In the past this has largely been kept secret, but people from out of region and state have taken notice and now thousands are drawn to this area every year for guided hunting and fishing trips. Temporary accommodations are in demand and will be for the unforeseeable future. Bertie County and Windsor alike have become a destination for both business and pleasure.
