After 40 years in commercial construction, My wife and started building custom spec homes, an oxymoron, but we build a home that we would like to live in . This is a beautiful comfortable home with an open floor plan, and has custom cabinets, exotic hardwood floors and porcelain tile. The only vinyl in the home is in the upstairs bath. The cabinets are Custom maple, the pantry unit has heavy duty slide out drawers. All rooms have Cat 5 cable, there is a computer room off the kitchen. Our homes are built to stringent standards; we do our own trim and wood work. We are on site everyday and watch over every detail. The house has Tyvek house wrap, cellulose sprayed insulation, and the windows are tape-sealed to industry standards. The floors are X braced w/2x4s. All bath and bedroom doors are solid core. The baths are insulated for privacy. Porcelain tile in the kitchen, downstairs' baths, and laundry. Family and dining room have Australian Cypress flooring. An 8'x40' rear, east-facing porch assures year-round use. The five bedrooms all have walk-in closets; the upstairs bonus/bedroom has a huge closet, and there are large attic storage areas with standard doors w/ keyed locks. The kitchen, halls, M/bedroom and bath have can lighting - no cut rate fixtures here. The kitchen has a Bosh dishwasher and a high-end Whirlpool electric stove w/ two size eyes; the exhaust hood is vented to the exterior. We build our homes using many of the energy star standards, although the government does not support the energy star program anymore. The AC units are 13. SEER, and our effort to seal the house by spaying every drilled hole seems to have worked well according to our customers' electric bills. We built the home as maintenance-free as possible. The siding, fascia and soffit are Hardy plank; it does not rot and holds paint very well. The shingles are architectural and all flashing was custom made for the job. The front porch is concrete and brick as are the walls up to floor level.
The home is located in a rural setting about 8 miles from Gray Ga. and 4 miles from Dames ferry School.
