I was only 15 when I first saw Stonewall Jackson traversing the Old Valley Turnpike, built on an old Indian path that later would see horses ,wagons, Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers. Built in 1846, the main part of the house still has some of its original wood floors. In fact, most of the house still has old wooden floors which have been beautifully refinished! I'm located between Mt. Jackson and Edinburg, in the heart of the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley. I have frontage on Old Valley Pike, (RT 11) and hundreds of feet of Shenandoah River in the back yard for those lazy days of fishing, canoeing, or just plain relaxin'. Surrounded by Civil War battlefields and beautiful mountain views, this house is a must see for anyone who loves history or just watching the river flow. My rooms are spacious yet cozy. Large kitchen features two separate pantry/storage rooms and beautiful river views. A period stainless steel double sink and pine cupboards and cabinets all add to my country charm! My two bathrooms have been nicely updated, and I have a new furnace. Dining room features 1/2 inch tongue and groove pine wood paneling and a built-in corner cabinet and bookshelf. Bring your stuff! With three outbuildings with electricity, you can decide: garage for your car, workshop, storage, or all three, the options are yours! I also have 2 good sized porches one out front and another on the side, with a full basement for storage. A nice sized yard will afford a large vegetable garden and room for the kids to play. If you need to hit the road, you can be on interstate 81 in 5 minutes. Skiing and golf are both within 30 minutes at a leisurely country drive. This is a truly lovely home that is priced to sell! Remember: buy your snowshoes in the summer; the downturn in housing will not last forever.
