Looking for a green home but don't care for modern architecture? Pat Parker (the boy in the black and white photo in front of the house that inspired him to build this one), a fiercely  independent Portland carpenter has built this home with attention to detail that is virtually non-existent today. Built to be a near perfect replica of a  circa  1920 Dutch Colonial this home embodies the spirit of the true  craftsmanship of the era. The house as a whole was built as if it were a fine piece of furniture and built not by a corporation but by a Mt. Tabor native on a mission to preserve his neighborhood. Modern and environmentally friendly materials were chosen for those elements that would not detract from the craft such as pex  plumbing, marmoleum bathroom floors, wool bedroom carpets, argon filled double pane low-E  windows  (yet wood framed) and tight energy saving insulation. The roof is is south facing, shallow pitched, and unobstructed making is perfect for solar panels or solar water heat.
Two blocks from Mount Tabor's playgrounds, pine-tree shaded dog park, running paths and summer concerts. Â Easy access to the best restaurants in Portland (in the SE of course) and shops in the Hawthorne and Montavilla neighborhoods. Â Entertain on the fabulous redwood deck. Â Enjoy the mature fig tree and grape arbor. Â |
